Labor

Tue Sep 21, 2004, 9:28 PM
I was reading through the transcript for the great debate between the two main candidates for the federal election; Mark Latham and John Howard, and a few things jumped out at me.

First of all. I'm sick to death of hearing Mark Latham's metaphorical policies, which he only released weeks before the election. When he claims that he is going to "ease the squeeze on middle Australia" you know that he has no idea what he's talking about.

These policies are not watertight, hold no actual political importance or relevance and are just playing on the feeling that the grass is always greener on the other side. Not even that! It's preying on the proletariats of Australian society, the vast middle class votes who think that if they vote labor they will get a break financially. Which brings me to my next point. Mark claims that he can lower interest rates, part of his "Make Australia fair" policy. (Another lame ass metaphorical policy) How, Mr Latham, do you plan on lowering interest rates, when the reserve bank controls interest rates!? Besides, smart economics is about future prosperity, not just the level of interest rates.

Labor is focusing on getting into office, rather that what they are going to do, which is what policies are for! Again, they are focusing on the surface issue, because it will earn votes. Being Prime minister is so much more than getting voted in! They put too much emphasis on Unions, which should be abolished and moulded into one huge watchdog type federal government run operation. The labor party doesn't even care about important issues, they are too busy focusing on getting people's approval and getting elected that their policies (engineered to make people feel better and sound good rather than actually holding any substancial political importance or relevance) won't even be put into practice because they are completely and utterly unrealistic and entirely metaphorical. If people actually began to think about this sort of thing, we wouldn't have an abusive name caller with man boobs running the opposition. I say bring back Kim Beasley. I wouldn't vote for him, but at least he isn't a manipulative rat swindling votes. Left wing policies in Australia dont address issues...they think its a popularity contest, hence their fruitless policies.

It's about time we got our act together and spread conservative intellectualism. For too long we have caved in to the demands of the left by shelving debate on various important issues. (Australian conservative politics).

Latham claims that he will turn Australia into a republic in three years if he is elected, now explain to me please why you would parade around making promises about something that people don't want. We only had a referrendum about this in 1999, which was people were not in favour of! It defies sense! It's like Hitler going for office again! He should start making realistic promises like "I will drive australia into the ground in 3 years" or "I will do nothign at all as prime minister for 3 years", at least he would be telling the truth.

I would also like to comment on the latest labor ads polluting television. They claim that because Australia is taking East Timor's oil reserves so that 5 out of 100 (1 out of 20) East Timorese children are dying of starvation. They also claim that this problem can be easily fixed and that John Howard is being unfair. How can you easily fix 1/20 kids dying of starvation in an almost third world country. How can you even guarantee that those oil revenues will all go into feeding those children anyway? It will most likely end up going into the army!

The stupidity of the opposition and the childlike accusations boggle the mind!

Then on the great debate Mark Latham talked about getting rid of the safety net in medicare. He claimed that Medicare wouldn't need the safetynet if it was fixed up... I don't think he knows what the safety net is... It's government rebate!

Also his contradicting arguments. He said to some woman that she would be $400 anually less a week but $27 better off weekly. Obviously basic mathematics is not a prerequisite to lead the opposition.

He also claims that he will stay in Iraq for how long we have to, despite his "troops home by christmas" promise. He also says that the relationship between Australia and America is due to the great wartime leader John Curtin. Bollocks, it's because of great liberal leaders like Robert Menzies!

Whatever, I'm getting too pissed off.

it's fully lame, flesh is yum, plasma is yum
:iconyespete:
No worries pal. Alright here it is friends. I've decided to talk about something that really annoys me or something that I think I should talk about.

First up we have the line: "you laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same."

Come on now. Those mythical, individualist throw away lines only uttered from the most bohemian of bohemians are so lame.
You're in f**king denial, we're all the same grow up and get used to your surroundings, you're not having one half the trouble fitting in that you are complaining about. Wow, that line is so cliche and deep. I wish I could mope around all day and talk about really deep things, because I'm alternative! Just after I finish writing morbid and mysterious song lyrics from my favourite bands and movies that aren't mainstream (of course).

Newsflash friends: They aren't mainstream because they aren't good!
mainstream = good. If they were good, they would have a record deal and be playing at places other than your local tavern and those films would have actually appeared at the cinemas (other than the dendy) instead of going straight to VHS only!

I was at the dendy the other day to watch a film called Coffee and Cigarettes, which by the way, was absolutely the most tedious thing I have ever had the displeasure of watching in my life. The only reason why I didn't get up and leave and possibly burn down that lame alternative theatre is so I could serve as a warning to other people... I think I was actually crippled by the lameness and tediousness of that film, so much so that my limbs were incapacitated, I'm surprised I didn't die in my seat.

Maybe it was the chinotto. Why do they have chinotto there? Because it's not Coca Cola and not mainstream! Wow, go against the flow please. Don't support those capitalists! Keep thwarting that globalisation and give "the little guy" a hand or give some more hand outs to illegal immigrants, just after I vote labor. But look out, that chinotto is actually manufactured by Coca Cola!

Anyway, Coffee and Cigarettes was positively awful, 12 conversations between people. If I want to watch people interact, I'll turn on my radio, television, computer or hang outside the dendy with my acoustic guitar (because I'm a struggling artist) over my shoulder wearing my gypsy clothes from "tree of life" - where you can get all your prepackaged non-conformist needs.

Conformity is so fickle anyway; I could be a non-conformist and do drugs because society says no or I could be a non-conformist and not do drugs in spite of my friends and what my age group tend to do.. Horsesh*t.

Yes, I am a conformist, I conform to society and I'm proud that I am not under the misconception that to be an individual is so mysterious and difficult. I am proud that I fit into society and I am not adopting lame ass individualist pipe dreams. I'm a realist.
